Dr. Mary Kaplar received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University and went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in child clinical psychology.
As a licensed clinical psychologist, her specialties include child psychology, psychological testing, health psychology/wellness, pre-surgical evaluations for bariatric surgery candidates, and anxiety disorders.
Dr. Kaplar particularly enjoys working with children and families, as well as helping individuals reach their health and wellness goals (e.g., reaching and maintaining a healthy weight, stress management, mindfulness, work-life balance).
She conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations for children experiencing emotional, behavioral, or academic difficulties in school (IQ testing, achievement testing, assessment of social/emotional functioning).
In addition, she provides parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) to families of pre-school age children with behavioral issues. She also uses biofeedback training to help individuals better cope with anxiety.
Dr. Kaplar sees both children and adults for a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, ADHD, behavioral problems, parenting, career counseling, stress management, school difficulties, adjustment problems, depression, divorce/blended family issues, phobias, and self-esteem.
Dr. Kaplar primarily utilizes a cognitive behavioral and family systems approach to therapy.
She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Ohio Psychological Association.
